How Halqa works

One iPad, everyone's phones, and a room that argues.

You need all three: an iPad to run it · a screen the room can see — projector, TV, or the board opened in a browser on any laptop · one phone per team, on the same Wi-Fi.

One iPad runs everything. Server, board and control panel — but the room still needs a screen to see it on. Works on the room's Wi-Fi with no internet at all.
Nobody has ever been asked to install anything. This is the entire trick. scan it, then pick a team name on the board
Students join by scanning. Any phone, any browser — but every team needs one. No app to install and nobody to sign in as.
The phone deliberately never shows the question. Look up. a diagram everyone sees the question the team sees the options
The room and the phones see different things. Choose an answer, find it on a diagram, put steps in order, or write something the class reads aloud.
Your slides, your handwriting, and a copy the class takes home. your PDF, on the wall and in your hand they keep it
Your own slides, marked up as you talk. A PDF becomes an activity — one page per round. Point at it, leave a trail that fades, or draw in ink that stays. Back puts an earlier page up for you to talk over without moving the class off the one they are on. At the end a student opens the whole lesson on their phone, annotations and all, and saves it.
The bar chart is not the point. The argument after it is the point. the answer what the room chose but why isn't it B? …go on then
The reveal is the lesson. The reasoning goes up, not just the answer. A split vote is the most useful thing that can happen.
There is no database. There is nowhere for it to go. That is the feature. team names, never student names gone when it ends
Teams compete. Nobody is graded. No student accounts, no results kept. Scores exist to keep everyone in it.
Recompiling nothing. Shipping nothing. It is just a file. “six rounds on fractions, for eleven-year-olds” one small file in your catalog
The activities are yours to write. Describe one to an AI assistant connected to your iPad and it builds it onto the device.
